Information regarding boosters in light of recent Government announcements

Current situation
- Those aged 30+ or those who are clinically vulnerable who had their second vaccination at least three months ago can now book via the National Booking System or by calling 119 (they can book from 2 months or 61 days, with appointments offered from 3 months onwards)
- Those aged 18+ who had their second vaccination at least three months ago will be able to book via the National Booking System or by calling 119 from Wednesday
- We are currently not offering walk-ins for boosters across our area, but the ‘evergreen’ offer for people to walk-in for their first or second jab or their third primary dose (with a letter from their GP) is still live at Queensgate, Grafton Centre, Oak Tree, Horsefair and The Eatons (not Chesterton Bowls Club due to limited parking availability)
- We are working hard to open up new appointments across our area. Please note that only sites with current availability will show on the National Booking Service
To help ensure that as many people as possible can access their booster in a planned and managed way each day, currently all booster appointments in our area are available on a bookable-only basis. Patients can book via www.nhs.uk/covidvaccine or by calling 119.
Cambridgeshire and Peterborough Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG) will continue to update both www.thevaccinators.co.uk and the CCG’s social media accounts with the latest options.
Latest booster announcement
Following the Prime Minister’s announcement on 12 December, everyone aged 18 and over who had their second dose at least three months ago should be offered boosters by the end of December.
As organisations across the NHS work around the clock to step-up bookable booster capacity, we are asking patients not to contact their GP or other NHS services to try to book their booster vaccination unless they have been invited to do so.
Operational teams across the NHS and Local Authorities are working at pace to very significantly accelerate the booster vaccination programme to meet the new national deadline.
Walk-in vaccinations
At this moment in time, we are not currently offering boosters on a walk-in basis. This is to ensure that as many eligible people as possible can access boosters in a planned and managed way. Eligible people can book your booster via www.nhs.uk/covidvaccine or by calling 119. Patients can still access their first and second dose on a walk-in basis.
Call for volunteers
Throughout the COVID-19 vaccination programme to date, our volunteers have been essential to the delivery of the life-saving vaccination to our local communities.
