Local action for South Cambridgeshire

Protecting, enhancing, and fighting for South Cambridgeshire will always be my top priority. Over the last month, that has meant working to find solutions to problems such as protecting our waterways from overdevelopment, keeping South Cambridgeshire moving with suitable transport programmes, and challenging local government about the issues that matter to you.

But it also has its lighter moments, something to cherish at these times. Visiting local village events and meeting people, for example at the hugely successful Thripow Daffodil Weekend, has been a real highlight. It is very easy to contact me and hear my thoughts – I send thousands of letters and emails to residents every year – but it is always better to meet people face-to-face. Thank you to everyone who has welcomed me this month.

Riding over 100km from London to Cambridge to raise over £12,000 for the Ukraine Humanitarian Fund
Visiting companies, charities, life science researchers, and new local facilities, such as the newly completed Cambourne Soul.

An amazing day as the Thriplow Daffodil Weekend & Country Fair returned last month!

Great to see not just the community out, but people coming to South Cambs from all over the country. An incredible mix of stalls and charities to chat to – and huge congratulations to organisers who raised over £70,000 across the weekend!

100km cycle ride for Ukraine!

I am delighted and relieved to have completed my 100km cycling challenge for Ukraine. It is an urgent cause. It is by far the longest ride I have done, and I felt absolutely shattered at the end. I did it with five friends, all of them fitter than me, and we were lucky with the conditions – fabulous sunshine lighting the way through our gorgeous countryside.

Thank you to everyone who so generously sponsored me. I am bowled over by the selflessness of our community at times like this. Many constituents have also let me know that they had already supported humanitarian efforts in other ways, and I want to thank everyone who has been involved.

I remain proud of how South Cambridgeshire comes together in a crisis, as we have seen so often in the last few years. All those impacted by this war need our support, and I’ll be doing all I can inside Parliament and out to ensure they receive it.
