Some good news: we planted 18 Common Spotted Orchids last autumn and 14 have survived and look very healthy. We also have 7 Bee Orchids now established. The Common Spotted orchids are in the metal cages to the right of the tree in the photo and the Bee Orchids to the left. It is possible the missing four Common Spotted orchids may still grow and we are keeping an eye out just in case. The cages will be removed once the orchids are more established.
We hope to be planting a third variety of native orchids later in the year, thanks to a grant from the Cambridgeshire and Peterborough Fund for Nature.
