Call for oak timber – can one of your local land owners help?
The Sutton Hoo Ship’s Company is trying to source some oak trees to enable their project to recreate the historical ship. Please see the attached article about the project. The type and shape/form of trees need is very specific and similar to that of the rebuilding of Notre Dame, who are hunting for large quantities of French oak.
The ship builders are looking for quality oak trees which are free of knots, mostly straight, some curved but of the correct curvature, no twists but a few with the correct twist! If someone in your locality is felling oak, using it in this project may be a positive outcome.
The Queen’s Green Canopy 2022
HM The Queen is the RFS Patron. Next year marks the 70th (platinum) anniversary of her reign. Past RFS President, HRH The Prince of Wales has urged the public to ‘Plant a Tree for the Jubilee’ in 2022. The result will be known as The Queen’s Green Canopy.
