Why Join?
• Be a part of important decisions affecting local services, village projects, and the overall wellbeing of your community.
• Whether it’s improving local amenities or organizing events, your voice matters and can lead to real improvements.
• Membership is not onerous or hugely time consuming – outside of meetings, your input can be as much or as little as you want.
Who Can Join?
• Anyone over 18 who cares about the community and wants to make a difference! You don’t need experience—just enthusiasm and a little time.
Time commitment?
• Attendance at monthly Parish Council meetings (7.30 pm to 9.30pm in the Village Hall), third Monday of the month (no meeting in August).
• Occasional review of emails and planning applications between meetings.
Examples of recent projects and areas of influence
• Shepreth Spur of Melbourn Greenway (including parking and speeding controls)
• Fund raising for and building of multi-use games court on the Rec
• Developing plans for a Community Energy Project
• Working with local volunteer groups (including youth groups and Sustainable Shepreth)
• Redevelopment of the Old School Field
• Working with local councils and Rail User Groups on improving/maintaining transport links
• Flood prevention
• Input into planning applications and development of the Grants and Kenzies sites.
